International Spokenword Day was established by King Of Poetry Blaq Ice and the International P.O.E.T Organization. This event is happening on Thursday October 15, 2015. After 7 days of National Poetry Day, this event will occur. The purpose of this event is to honor Spoken Word Artists, Poets and Writers. The reason why is because we want to share and help spread the word throughout poetry. We want to encourage and put some positive messages in our brothers and sisters lives. We want to let them know that they are not alone in their situation. We understand what you are going through and we as poets, spoken word artists and writers are here to help you. WE are not here to hurt or offend you in anyway. So, please be available on this day where you will be inspired and hear a word of encouragement. This is not a place where you have to leave your house. You can celebrate and enjoy this beautiful day of words at your home. Stay tuned, you don’t want to miss this day. “Change The World, One Heart, One Mind, One Verse At A Time.”

  1. I think that this is a beautiful thing. Although Spoken Word has been around since the beginning, it is relatively still a new art genre. It is a branch off the Hip Hop tree.

I’m glad that Blaq Ice & P.O.E.T found it necessary to declare a day for Spoken Word.

  2. THIS IS A GREATLY ANTICIPATED MOMENT THAT THE WORLD SHOULD EXPERIENCE AND SHARE IN.
IM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING SPOKENWORD BECOME A HOUSEHOLD EXPERIENCE, ONE THAT IS LIKE MUSIC, LISTENED TO DAILY, BEING A VALUABLE PART OF MANY LIVES!

  3. As I look at the accomplishment of my being 2015 National Poetry Awards Poet of the Year, it delights me to see the motion and emotion Spoken Word has on society universally. This gives me encouragement and confirmation that Spoken Word is effective and affective. I too am pleased that the P.O.E.T family and Blaq Ice have moved to the observance of the energy and influence of Spoken Word through this special day.

I also support the International Spoken Word Day as it is true that Spoken Word has been around in the beginning from our family conversations, the community griots, churches/worship centers and temples, news reports and even those family bedtime stories. Our day is calibrated often with messages by television, radio or other media, so YES SPOKEN WORD. We have received our cultural, historical and spiritual lessons by way of Spoken Word so it is only right that we MUST celebrate and observe the communication that we have imbedded in our existence! Our most powerful tool is our ‘word of mouth’….SPOKEN WORD!!
I believe we can affect change if we use our tools.
10/15/15 International Spoken Word Day…Join the Movement!! Pay homage to the blessing we have received from previous orators and historians. After all, it was done for us!

    Peace and Love…
